It’s September and that means it’s football time in Texas! When thinking of football season, injuries aren’t usually your first thought despite how common they are. Here, we’ve compiled some helpful information regarding sports-related dental injuries and what to do when you’re in an emergency situation.
With football season comes tackles and you want to ensure you’re protected in as many ways as possible. Mouthguards are a great way to protect your teeth and avoid unwanted injuries. Your protective piece will be customized to your bite, allowing maximum efficiency and comfort. While these mouthguards are very durable, our mouths are constantly changing. It’s important to bring your protective gear in during your exams to ensure they’re still functioning properly.
We understand that sometimes accidents happen. It’s not uncommon for student-athletes to experience a broken, chipped, or knocked-out tooth. When these situations arise, we’re here for you. We are always accepting dental emergencies and will work you into our schedule as soon as possible. If you’ve lost a tooth, ensure you keep all broken pieces and try to transport them in a small container with milk to preserve the root.
At Cinco Ranch Smiles & Braces, we are passionate about staying active in the local areas. This year, we’ve sponsored the football teams of Cinco Ranch High School and Obra Tompkins High School. You can find our logo on the season’s schedule posters, banners at the games, and on the students’ jerseys and t-shirts. Several of our patients are involved in these high school communities and we find great joy in supporting them.
We encourage you to go out and watch your local high school football team! Our team looks forward to hearing all about the 2018 season at your next routine exam. Contact us to schedule your appointment today!
