After a professional cleaning, do you love the feeling of having clean teeth? Regular cleanings and exams are very important for good health. That’s why we recommend coming into Cinco Ranch Smiles & Braces at least twice a year. No matter how well you brush at home, you won't be able to get rid of all the plaque and tartar that the hygienist is able to remove during a professional cleaning. We also understand that many people are busy during the day, so they want to know how long does teeth cleaning take?
As part of our preventative dentistry services, routine dental cleanings are pretty simple. First we thoroughly check both your teeth and your gums for signs of problems. Next we’ll clean your teeth, removing plaque and any built-up tartar. We’ll also polish and floss your teeth. Depending on how long it’s been since your last appointment, regular dental cleanings take between 30-60 minutes.
Periodontal cleanings are deeper cleanings that help treat gum disease. These take longer than regular cleanings. You can usually avoid them by maintaining good oral hygiene at home and seeing us twice a year.
Dental cleanings should not cause pain or significant discomfort. If you have sensitive teeth and gums, please let us know, so we can be more careful. If you or any family members struggle with anxiety at the dentist, we offer sedation options to help with relaxation.

A lot of people lead very busy lives and aren’t able to miss school or work for a teeth cleaning. We’re happy to offer extended office hours of 8am to 6pm Monday through Friday and by appointment from 8am to 2 pm on Saturdays. We also have block appointments, so you can get your whole family in for a cleaning in one visit. Most dental insurance will cover regular dental cleanings and exams.
